Areas of Practice

Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy

Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy, or ERP, is a specialized type of therapy that is highly effective in treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). It is based on the idea that by facing your fears and resisting the urge to perform compulsive behaviors, you can gradually reduce the power that OCD has over your life.

Psychoeducation, Skill Building & Coping Skills

There are some things we never learned in school or at home. Let us teach you through psychoeducation. This might include information on the brain/body connection, improving emotional intelligence, learning helpful ways to communicate, increasing distress tolerance,  enhancing behaviors that support our mental and emotional health, developing mindfulness, and reinforcing relaxation skills.

BrainSpotting

Brainspotting is another type of therapy that can reduce the symptoms of distressing memories or overcome unhelpful thoughts and behaviors in our lives. Based on the philosophy of “Where you look affects how you feel,” brainspotting attempts to engage the deepest part of our brain by focusing your attention on a certain spot. Once that spot is found, the brain begins to make connections naturally which can lead to increased insight into healing.

SHAME RESILIENCE & SElf-Compassion

Shame Resilience/Self-Compassion skills are based on the works of Brene Brown and Kristen Neff. This type of intervention seeks to increase awareness of the presence and power of shame in our lives. We discuss how to identify our shame triggers, develop a critical awareness of the sneakiness of shame, practice vulnerability, and learn to speak kindly to ourselves.

Cognitive behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps people change the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that keep them stuck. It addresses rigid versus flexible thoughts, how we relate and express feelings and those behaviors that make us feel better or worse.

Mindfulness, Somatic Practice, & Parts Work

We offer a unique and integrative approach to healing, drawing on the transformative power of Mindfulness, and informed by the ideas within Somatic Experiencing, and Parts Work.

Christian and Spiritual Counseling

Faith can be a personal and important part of our identity. Upon invitation, we can incorporate faith-based and spiritual components into therapy.
